2019 Interpreters and Translators Conference has ended
This annual conference is a major educational event for bilingual staff, educators and community stakeholders committed to ensuring proper language use in school settings.

Participants will engage in two days of meaningful professional learning centered around: Ethics for K-12 Interpreters, Standards for Interpretation & Translation, Intensive Skills Institute, Consecutive and simultaneous skills development, Sight translation techniques, Continuing Education Opportunities, American Translators Association (ATA) certification exam preparation.

In this practical and highly interactive workshop the participants will work on strategies that will help them improve the quality of their interpretation by improving their translation skills. They will learn how to overcome several common challenges faced when transferring meaning correctly between English and the target language, particularly in deciding from different translation options based on context and the intended audience. We will work on original English excerpts from the fields of education, law and journalism.
 Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
  1. Faster interpreting and translating decision-making ability
  2. Improved terminology research ability and resources
  3. Considerably greater accuracy in renditions based on context and intended audience
